内容記述 | This paper explores the development of normative consciousness in young children through picture books. The first crucial step in this process is carefully selecting picture books from the vast array available. The chosen books should contain appropriate preschool content and depict values and behaviors fostering normative consciousness. The illustrations and language must also be simple and easily understandable for young children. During read-aloud sessions, educators engage children in discussions about the story, analyzing concepts of right and wrong and what is considered correct or incorrect behavior. Furthermore, educators can guide the children toward making better choices by reflecting on the actions and decisions of the characters with them. Encouraging children to empathize with the characters, considering the situations from their perspectives, and providing opportunities for them to imitate the normative behaviors portrayed in the stories are critical aspects of this approach. For example, in the story of The Pied Piper of Hamelin, the townspeople promise the piper a reward for ridding the town of its rat infestation. The piper plays his flute, leading the rats into the river, where they drown. However, despite fulfilling his part of the bargain, the townspeople refuse to pay the promised reward, dismissing the piper’s efforts as merely playing the flute. In response, the piper uses his flute again to lead the town’s children away, ultimately resulting in their demise. Through this story, children learn the importance of keeping promises by empathizing with the characters and reflecting on the story’s morals. Fostering normative consciousness through picture books is effective for young children to deepen their self-awareness and understand societal rules and values. For successful implementation, it is crucial to encourage children to internalize these norms through the picture books’ narratives and characters, thereby enabling them to apply these lessons in their daily lives | |||||||||
