内容記述 | Many previous studies have shown that physical education and sports activities are effective for people with disabilities in the education to understand people with disabilities. For example, previous studies have shown that elementary school students’ views of people with disabilities are transformed when they engage with them during their elementary school years. Furthermore, this study investigated how junior high school students’ views of visually impaired people were transformed when they experienced blind soccer in their physical education classes with blind soccer players. The study subjects were 93 healthy third-year junior high school students (53 boys and 40 girls), 11 of whom had experienced contact with people with disabilities and 82 of whom had not. The study consisted of one 50-minute class for junior high school students to experience playing blind soccer, followed by a questionnaire survey on their attitudes toward the visually impaired before and after the class. The results showed that six items related to the image of people with disabilities (“pitiful,” “dark,” “hard to live with,” “can’t do anything alone,”“it’s dangerous to play sports,” and “it’s difficult to play sports with them”) were higher after the trial class than after the trial class. Therefore, the view of the visually impaired changed positively even during the junior high school years. |
