| 内容記述 | The saxophone, an instrument that was invented by the Belgian Adolphe Sax in 1846, developed significantly while undergoing a series of improvements over the years. Today, it is an indispensable instrument in various musical situations and styles, including jazz, pop, wind, and chamber music. The six basic instruments in the saxophone family range from the sopranino to the bass, but in recent years both the high and low ends have expanded with the addition of the soprillo and the tubax, respectively. As a result, there is a veritable orchestra of saxophones. The reason why I have composed this work is because I have felt that there was little number of such music, though audience liked the sound of large saxophone ensemble. In my composition Toki wo Koete, I have set to music the nostalgic scenery and feelings I had while living in France around 1980 that float to the surface like revolving lanterns. The piece is scored for a large saxophone ensemble. The instrumentation is: Soprano 1st-2nd, Alto 1st-2nd-3rd, Tenor 1st-2nd, Baritone 1st-2nd, and Optional Bass. The Maple & Rose Sax Orchestra played the premiere performance under the composer’s baton on 2 June 2018 in Hiroshima. < First Performance > Date : 2 June 2018 Place : Higashi Ward Community Cultural Center Hall Performance : Maple & Rose Sax Orchestra conducted by composer |
