Among these, the 43-track piano album entitled Album fur die Jugend(Album for the Young) Op. 68 was originally written for Schumann’s eldest daughter Marie. This album retains its outstanding educational value today as teaching material for beginners that captures children’s feelings from their point of view. The album was completed in 1848, and was such a favorite among pieces used for Hausmusik (music played in the home), which was spreading throughout Germany at the time, that it was reprinted in 1851. It also should be noted that a collection of Schumann’s own educational aphorisms entitled Musikalische Haus- und Lebensregeln was added as an appendix to the second edition.\n　Meanwhile, from 1846-1848, Schumann was sending his two daughters to Frobel’s Kindergarten in Dresden, and soon both Schumann and Frobel would find themselves in similar situations due to the German revolutions that swept over the country in 1848.
