The first is to clarify the changes in childcare policy in Korea and the meaning and significance of day care centers according to the pertinent documents. The second purpose is to clarify how the directors of childcare centers in Korea perceive childcare policy. The conclusions of the study are as follows:\n　It is evident that childcare policy in Korea has frequently changed according to the ideologies and policies of each elected government. It is also clear that the directors of childcare centers are very dissatisfied with the frequently changing policies and the rigid regulations and severe monitoring system of the government, including that of the local government.
