In practice, Japanese-style meals were served in the party in July and western-style meals in November 1993, and like-wise in June and October 1994, respectively. The amount of energy to be taken from lunch was calculated on the basis of daily energy prescribed for the respective patients.. According to this energy, the menu was made in both style meals. The dishes were lightly seasoned and non-caloric food and alternative sweetening agents were utilized as possible. The questionnairing was conducted before the respective parties (questionnaire A: the inquiry form was sent to the patients together with a letter of invitation to the party) and after the respective parties (questionnaire B). The results are summarized below. 1. Questionnaire A 1) Question: \"Did you understand the guidance in diet given in Kawate Clinic?\" \"Almost completely\" or better amounted to 98.1% (104 cases) of the patients examined and 95.0% (38 cases) in 1993 and 1994, respectively. 2) Question: \"Are you following the guidance in diet?\" \"Almost thoroughly\" or better amounted to 87.7% (93 cases) of the patients examined and 92.5% (37 cases) in 1993 and 1994, respectively. 2. Questionnaire B 1) Question: \"How were the dishes served in the party?\" In 1993, only 59.1 and 47.0% of the cases placed a rating \"good\" on \"sanbaizu\" and \"soup\" in the Western style, respectively. Other dishes, however, were valued at \"good\" in as high as 70-80% or over. In 1994, only 36.4% set a rating \"good\" on \"black tea jelly\". 2) Question: \"How was the amount of meal served in the party?\" \"Appropriate\" accounted for 70% or over of the cases in both the Japanese and Western styles in 1993.
