Questionnaire surveys were conducted in the first class (before) and the last class (after) of this course offered at Hiroshima Bunka Gakuen University in FY2022. Specifically, we obtained quantitative data using six factors related to foreign orientation and qualitative data to verify the acquisition of basic knowledge about SDP. In the quantitative data analysis, only two factors, “patriotism” and“nationalism,” showed significantly lower values at the after, but the effect size r was lower.Thus, we examined the reasons for this with the qualitative data, and found that the nature of the course, which dealt mainly with social issues in developing countries, may have fostered an uneasiness toward foreign countries.
