内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Recently, the guardians are highly concerned about their children's lessons outside of school. Many Japanese children start to have various lessons in their infancy. Piano lessons are still the most popular type of lesson, although the number of children who learn music is decreasing and the number of those who learn foreign languages or sports is increasing. However children in the upper grades of elementary school tend to quit learning to play the piano. They are getting older and fewer are continuing to play the piano, because those who have to go to cram school find difficulty in using enough time to practice the piano. The merit of learning to play musical instruments is that children can have confidence through music and that music enriches their life above all. That is why we encourage people to keep practicing the piano as long as possible. In order to know what piano teachers can do for that, it is important to investigate the actual circumstance of children's lives and guardians' thoughts. In this study, I asked children who learn to play the piano and their guardians living in Hiroshima City and the surrounding area a questionnaire from the beginning of June to the end of July 2008. The children range from infants to high school students. What the questionnaire makes clear is that guardians play an important role for children to continue to play the piano. Those who are eager to make their children learn to play the piano tend to let them start learning music earlier, help and lead them more while practicing at home. The following result was also obtained: The rate of children who want to be praised by guardians is much higher than the rate of guardians who actually intend to praise their children. This means that guardians should praise more often their children. Through this study, I would like to state that piano teachers could encourage the guardians to play their role, as well as care about each pupil's practical piano practice time or teach them efficiently. It would help in increasing the number of people who continue to play the piano as lifetime learning.
