内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 Johann Sebastian Bach devoted a significant portion of his life to the composition of dance music. Some of the preludes and the fugues in the Well-Tempered Clavier can be recognized as dance types but not named as such. I focused on these works, and studied their metric structures, characteristics, and also the coreography for finding out their appropriate tempos. In this treatise, the two types of dance music-the bour?e and the gavotte-are studied. The bour?e is rhythmically the least complex of all the Baroque dances. The metric hierarchy is duple on all levels, and the beat is the half note. Most bour?es have a time signature of either 2 or alla breve, and the phrase is eight beats in length (four measures), preceded by an upbeat, usually two eight notes or a quater note. The character is gay or joyful, and it is played lightly. The tempo is faster than the other Baroque dances. A tempo of a half note =MM80-88 is not too slow or fast for many bour?es. The gavotte was one of the most favorite dance musics for past two centuries. Its metric structure is similar to that of the bour?e. But the gavotte begins in the middle of the measure, and the grouping of beats occures across the bar line. The affects of the gavotte are diverse, ranging from "graceful" to "joyful", and a great variety of tempi are used, although still within a "moderate" range. The French and the Italian type of gavotte were described in the Mattheson's work. J.S.Bach was well aware of both the French and the Italian styles in gavotte writing though he cleary favored the French one. Mont?clair classfied the gavotte into two types, one is marked as "leger" with the time signature of 2 in which the eighth notes would have been performed "inegale", and the other is marked as "presto" in a time signature of 2/4. The prelude in the Well-Tempered Clavier II-2 has the time signature of 2/4. But this prelude is different from the one which Mont?clair mentioned, it has the particular affection.
