| 内容記述 | Secretarial education at this college has just started from its starting point. To grasp students' attitudes towards secretarial education courses at this college, and also to improve the program at the college, a survey was conducted of the students who enrolled in the program in 1983. Students were asked their motivations for taking the secretarial course of study. As a result of the survey, it was found that 55 students out of 134, or 41% of the students, took secretarial courses at this college because they thought taking the classes would be beneficial for them in getting a job. In fact, 106 students out of 134, or 79.1% of the students, said they were thinking of getting an office clerk job after they graduated. To support the results of the survey, the most popular job for students in women's junior colleges in this country is that of an office clerk, according to a survey conducted by the Japan Recruit Center. Thus, the results of this survey show that this phenomenon "is not peculiar but is very common. The writer analyzes the results as meaning that most students make the connection of "secretary" to "company", their "company" to "their future career", and from "their future career" to "office clerk". Hence, they think it would be beneficial for them in getting a job if they learn secretarial knowledge through the coursework, or if they can not get a secretarial job, they would then be able to use that knowledge in regular office clerk work. Of course, secretarial education should not be offered solely for vocational purposes, but we also cannot ignore those students' realistic expectations of the program. To conclude the findings of this survey, the writer wishes to emphasize that secretarial education at a college should be stressed as providing a broader human education, not only in its vocational aspects, but also in other aspects. These other aspects include helping students understand other people's situations in their future working places, and also helping them develop responsibility as a worker. | |||||||||
