内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 1. The women's education in Edo era which were feudal and social society based on Confucian ideas can hardly be recognized as positive education had been carried into effects to cultivate their natural endowments even of warriors who played the part of leader in this era. Many educational books founded on Confucians' wide spread sermon such as Ko (filial piety), Go-Rin (the five cardinal articles of morality), Go-Jo (the five cardinal virtures) and San-Ju. (the three submissiveness) were given for women and at the same time seven items lest women should be divorced by their husbands and necessities of saving etc., were advised to learn. Thus it was a fundamental purpose that Women as housewives ought to acqire obedience, patience and self-sacrifice through obeying these instructions. As a conclusion, it is presumed that the status of women in Edo era was never high. 2. Intellectual trainings and accomplishments for women in this era were generally accounted little and reading also layed stress on instructive books and the Tale of Genji, the Tale of Ise were rejected as immoral ones to seduce Women. Succeed to the prior era, practicing penmanship, studying of short poem, spinning, dressmaking and arithmetic should be learned from the point of necessities for living. It can be observed the primary aim of women's education was to control their minds. 3. Respect to the educational institutions in this era, women of warriors were educated chiefly in their houses ; therefore, independent institutions such as Terakoya ( a private elementary school) opened for all Women can be regarded as an epochmaking event for women's education.
