In 1973~1976, we took monthly measurement of 30 pregnant women and nursing mothers between the 4th and the 10th month of their pregnancy and in the first month after childbirth. Measurement was taken of the following 19 items: length (8 items), girth (4), width (2), thickness (2), abdominal slope, weight and womb bottom length. 1) The means, the minimum and the maximum in the 4th month were as follows: total crotch length 71.2 cm, 63.9 cm and 80.0 cm, abdominal extension girth 83.3 cm, 72.0 cm and 97.9 cm, abdominal thickness 21.2 cm, 17.3 cm and 27.2 cm, abdominal slope 19.0°, 11.5° and 28.0° and weight 48.7 kg, 38.8 kg and 60.5 kg. 2) In the 10th month, the increase as compared with the measurements in the 4th month, the means, the minimum and the maximum were as follows: total crotch length about 27%, 90.5cm, 81.6cm and 106.8 cm, abdominal extension girth about 17%, 97.6 cm, 90.3 cm and 115.5 cm, abdominal thickness about 38%, 29.3 cm, 27.1 cm and 35.2 cm, abdominal slope about 129%, 43.6°,30.0° and 54.0° and weight about 22%, 59.3 kg, 49.2 kg and 70.5 kg. 3) After childbirth, the decrease as compared with the measurements in the 10th month, the means, the minimum, the maximum and the corresponding months of pregnancy were as follows: total crotch length 18.8%, 73.6 cm, 66.5 cm, 82.6 cm and the 5th month, abdominal extension girth 10.2%, 87.6 cm, 74.4 cm, 98.5 cm and the 6th month, abdominal thickness 23.1%, 22.5 cm, 18.4 cm, 28.3 cm and the 5th month, abdominal slope 61.8%, 16.6°, 0°, 34.4° and the 3rd month and weight 11.2%, 52.7 kg, 39.5 kg, 65.0 kg and the 6th month. 4) The distribution and the maximum distribution (%) in the 10th month were as follows: total crotch length 80-109 cm, 90-94 cm (50%), abdominal extension girth 90-119 cm, 90-94 cm (about 43%), abdominal thickness 27 -35 cm, 27 -29cm (60%). abdominal slope 30-54°, 45-49° (about 37%), weight 45-74 kg, 55-49 kg (about 37%). 5) The most remarkable increase was seen in the following months: waist girth, waist thickness, abdominal thickness and womb bottom length in the 5th-6th month, abdominal slope and weight in the 6th-7th month, total crotch length in the 7th-8th month and abdominal extension girth in the 8th-9th month. 6) There was little correlation between stature or abdominal slope and the other items, while in the rest of the items a high correlation could be seen. |
