In 1992 road safety audit system was established in Great Britain，this system is a formal procedure for assessing accident potential and safety performance in the provision of new road schemes，and schemes for the improvement and maintenance of existing roads. These audits are carried out by specialists with appropriate experience and training，and who are independent，these results must be reflected in those schemes and transportation must be tried to improve safer. In order to be effective auditors may refer to a lot of past case studies of safety audit and information from a wide area of related to planning safety measures. At that time computers will play an important role in auditing road safety，because a lot of time，works，and cost are spent. Therefore，the objectives of this study are to examine and discuss computer system for safety audit in Great Britain and the introduction of it into Japan. Obtained major results are as follow; In Great Britain (1) Word and Excel are usually used for documents of road safety audit，(2) computer softwares for road safety audit are on sale，some of auditors use them，(3) there are few databases which are widely opened for auditors. In Japan (4) computer system for supporting safety audit must be developed from now. Finally，the computer system，which we can hold jointly various information among auditors and organization，have to constructed as soon as possible. |
