| 内容記述 | The aim of this paper is to connect the science of socio-Information which is the subject of a brand-new department，to English literature & linguistics which is one of the background subjects in the interdisciplinary-oriented curriculum of Kure University. The two aforesaid subjects are not necessarily compatible with each other from a conventional viewpoint，and are unlikely to merge into one，at a glance. But，I have come to find some correlative points on the two subjects in the course of skimming the articles on sociology and socio-linguistics，that is to say，‘language and sex/gender’is an area of study into which social science and linguistics converge. Here，I have picked up some examples of word-inflections of nouns peculiar to sex/gender and some distinguishing features of proper names，occupation names and social titles denoting females. Although my concerns are partly from linguistic studies，I have taken the theme up from my another concern at the social level. I have tried to collect the remnant or current words，which reveal women's humiliated social status in the past，and added newly-proposed/born words for emancipating women from their home-bound condition，or the words for egalitarians to obtain the liberated world hoped for by women. I hope this small paper will be of some help to the people who are devoted to social studies as well as women's studies. | |||||||||
