Computer teaching materials for children with disabilities were greatly developed in Japan from 1990 to 2000. HyperCard, which ran on Classic Mac OS, was used as a simple development environment to create various teaching materials. Due to the discontinuation of HyperCard, this trend declined; however, a new HyperCard-inspired application, LiveCode, has been developed. LiveCode is a cross-platform development environment that enables the development of diverse and flexible teaching materials. It maintains the strengths of HyperCard as well as being compatible with the latest operating systems. This report compares the functions of HyperCard and LiveCode, and presents the possibility of developing ICT teaching materials using LiveCode. |
