| 内容記述 | German Romantic composer Robert Schumann (1810-1856) is known for having written many works for children from his Dresden period onward (1844-). Among these, the 43-track piano album entitled Album fur die Jugend(Album for the Young) Op. 68 was originally written for Schumann’s eldest daughter Marie. This album retains its outstanding educational value today as teaching material for beginners that captures children’s feelings from their point of view. The album was completed in 1848, and was such a favorite among pieces used for Hausmusik (music played in the home), which was spreading throughout Germany at the time, that it was reprinted in 1851. It also should be noted that a collection of Schumann’s own educational aphorisms entitled Musikalische Haus- und Lebensregeln was added as an appendix to the second edition. Meanwhile, from 1846-1848, Schumann was sending his two daughters to Frobel’s Kindergarten in Dresden, and soon both Schumann and Frobel would find themselves in similar situations due to the German revolutions that swept over the country in 1848. This paper attempts to shed light on the view of children infused in the album by Schumann through the educational philosophies and historical background of the times and an analysis of the music. To summarize the findings of this paper, one can include a consideration of nature (the four seasons), a close connection between difficulty and musical traits of teaching materials, the cultivation of a musical ear through appeals from the inside, the importance of learning the fundamentals through a diversity of musical styles from the past, and an emphasis on children’s songs (folk songs). |
